History
Since 2000, the active collaboration between the Pro Loco Association and the Administration of the Municipality of Poggio a Caiano, with the participation of the "Centro Commerciale Naturale Poggio Novo" and the trade associations of the Province of Prato (Confesercenti and Confcommercio), has led to the creation of "Poggio in Vetrina" (Poggio on Show), an event that involves the residents of Poggio a Caiano and the surrounding area, thanks to the special late-night opening of most of the town's shops until midnight, on Thursday evenings from the end of June through all of July.
The initiative includes, in various areas of the Poggio area, numerous musical groups, performances by some local dance schools, painting exhibitions by local artists, and the gathering of numerous people at dinners organised in the streets of the town, as well as the original initiative "Negozio in Piazza" (Shop in the Square), a small market created by local shopkeepers who set up small stands to promote their products.
At the close of the "Poggio in Vetrina" event, until the 2009 edition, "Moda sotto le stelle" (Fashion Under the Stars) took place
, the fashion show that allowed the presentation of the Autumn-Winter clothing collections of numerous Poggio a Caiano shopkeepers who took part in the initiative.
Since the 2010 edition, the "Passeggiata Enogastronomica Medicea" poster, has been held, a travelling dinner through the streets of the town, from starter to dessert, organised by the Pro Loco together with the restaurants, bars, pastry shops, bakeries, and farms and wineries of the area. A special food-and-wine offering, to help discover the tastes and flavours of the area and traditional recipes, through a pleasant stroll in the town centre.

In Poggio a Caiano, the Thursdays of July light up with music, events and special initiatives to accompany the evening opening of the shops. Thursday 1 July marks the start of the 2021 edition of "Poggio in Vetrina", the series of events organised by the Pro Loco of Poggio a Caiano that every summer accompanies the "shopping under the stars" for residents and visitors alike. For four consecutive Thursdays — 1, 8, 15 and 22 July — the streets and squares of Poggio a Caiano, on the occasion of the special opening of local shops, will host concerts, street dinners, performances, exhibitions, events and initiatives dedicated to children: a way to reconnect after the difficult months of the pandemic and spend time together safely.
