OUR HISTORY

Since 1996, the Pro Loco of Poggio a Caiano has been a non-profit tourist association.
It works to carry out initiatives that promote the knowledge, protection and enhancement of the local area, as well as the promotion of its artistic heritage and local tradition and culture, in collaboration with the Municipality and other public bodies.
Among the association's main activities are:
- organising tourist and cultural events, shows and various initiatives
- the information service and tourist welcome
- organising and running the bookshop
- enhancing the landscape and natural resources
- promoting public, catering and hospitality services.
In 2003 the Comitato Assedio was founded within the Pro Loco, which manages and organises the town's great historical re-enactment, the Siege of the Villa.
The latest "offspring" of the Pro Loco, born in 2005, is the GSP Gruppo Storico Poggese, active in historical re-enactments with Renaissance costumes of its own making.
The Pro Loco of Poggio a Caiano belongs to Unpli, the National Union of Italian Pro Loco associations.

HOW TO JOIN
Anyone can become a member of the Pro Loco by visiting the office and paying an annual contribution of €10.00 (€5.00 for students and pensioners), which entitles the holder to a membership card, active participation and eligibility for elected office
