How to Reach Poggio a Caiano


Poggio a Caiano is a charming small town at the foot of Monte Albano, in the beautiful plain bounded to the north by the Apennine chain, just a short distance from the cities of Florence (17 km), Prato (10 km) and Pistoia (17 km).
To reach the town easily, and to visit our artistic, scenic, cultural and gastronomic attractions, the simplest routes are:

  • From the North: exit the A11 motorway at the Prato Est toll booth, take the tree-lined avenue leading into the centre of PratoMap of Poggio a Caiano, turn left at the first roundabout and follow the signs for Poggio a Caiano.

  • From the East: from the western outskirts of Florence, take the SR.66 (formerly SS.66) towards Pistoia; after about 16 km you will reach Poggio a Caiano.

  • From the South: from the Florence–Pisa–Livorno expressway, exit at Lastra a Signa, continue towards Ponte a Signa, cross the river Arno, continue to the Indicatore area, then turn left onto the SR.66 (formerly SS.66) for Poggio a Caiano.

  • From the West: exit the A11 motorway at the Pistoia toll booth, head towards Prato, and at the first traffic light turn right onto the SR.66 (formerly SS.66) towards Florence; after about 18 km you will reach Poggio a Caiano.

N.B. For those travelling by coach: the bridge crossing the river Arno has a clearance of less than 3 metres.

By bus:
from Florence: Copit line, Florence–Pistoia.
from Prato: LAM MT Azzurra, southbound route
