Poggio Music Competition

Since 1997 the Music Competition has been an international contest open to lower-secondary school students from all over Italy and abroad, with the main aim of spreading and promoting music among young people, combining passion for this art form with healthy, constructive competition. The competition is held at the Circolo-Teatro Ambra, usually in April/May, over 4-5 days, during which the students perform for the auditions; on the Saturday the results of the finalist schools are posted, and in the evening, in a thrilling show, they demonstrate their abilities.
The Poggio Music Competition is organised by the Pro Loco in collaboration with the "L'Ottava Nota" Music School of Poggio a Caiano, the Province of Prato, the Municipality of Poggio a Caiano and the Municipality of Carmignano. Given the importance of the event, the Competition has also received the patronage of the Ministry of Public Education.
The 2017 edition will be held, as in previous years, at the Cinema Teatro AMBRA in Poggio a Caiano (Prato), from Thursday 4 to Saturday 6 May.
Two parallel competitions will be held: the now well-established competition for classes and students from Italian and foreign schools, and the one for classes and students from Italian and foreign lower-secondary schools with a music curriculum.
